What is GROX? The AI agent operating system we built at IAI Tech

GROX is a universal agent operating system: one AI agent with identity, memory, capability, and reach.

GROX answers the email, posts the tweet, ships the code, signs the deal, and runs the trade—without losing the thread between them.

We built it at IAI Tech because the alternative had stopped making sense. Most people now run five or six AI tools that each do one job and none of which know each other. One writes copy. One helps with code. One summarises meetings. Every session starts from nothing, every tool needs the same context typed again, and none of them can finish anything, because finishing requires acting somewhere other than a text box.

GROX is the other approach: a single agent that remembers, and that is allowed to act.

What is an AI agent operating system?

An agent operating system gives one AI agent identity, memory, tools, and permission to act—instead of many disconnected assistants that each forget you.

The word “operating system” is doing real work in that sentence. An OS is not an application. It is the layer that gives applications a shared identity, shared memory, shared permissions, and a shared way to reach the outside world. GROX does the same thing for agent work:

One agent, with a name and a persona, rather than a fresh stranger per tab.

Context that persists between sessions, so the thread survives closing the laptop.

Routing each request to the right models, tools, and data for that job.

The ability to execute: messages send, applications deploy, and payments settle on-chain.

What can GROX actually do?

GROX is a single conversational surface that routes each request to the right models, tools, and data, then executes real work. In practice that covers:

Think and create

Chat, research, and reasoning through one persistent agent, plus documents, spreadsheets, slides, PDFs, images, and video.

Build software

GROX Code builds, previews, and deploys real web and mobile applications.

Act through tools

Connectors let the agent work inside email, chat, social, calendars, and other services you already use.

Work the markets

Trading and market analysis across crypto, stocks, and forex venues.

Coordinate a venture

The Venture brings nine agent roles together, all reporting to one human operator.

Automate and extend

Circuits package reusable automations; Agent Skills import a SKILL.md capability and invoke it by handle.

Keep going overnight

The Overnight Engine pursues objectives unattended, so progress continues when you are not watching.

How is an agent different from a chatbot?

A chatbot answers. An agent acts, remembers, and finishes work.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. A chatbot can write you an excellent email; you still have to send it. An agent sends it—which means the product has to solve a completely different set of problems: which account it sends from, what it is allowed to do without asking, what happens when a step fails halfway, and how you get the thing back if it goes wrong.

Most of the engineering in GROX sits in those questions rather than in the conversation itself.

What stops it doing something you did not want?

Reach without control is not a feature; it is a liability. So the permission model is not an afterthought bolted onto the side of a chat box.

Actions that touch the outside world—sending, publishing, spending, trading—run through explicit gates rather than scattered per-feature toggles. Routines can be flipped into autopilot deliberately, by you, rather than drifting into autonomy by default. And the agent is built to say what it did, not merely that it succeeded.

We have written about the approach in more depth on the GROX blog in How do you stop an AI agent going wrong?

Who is GROX for?

GROX is built for the solo founder era: one person, or a small crew, running work that used to need a department.

That shapes the plans:

  • Free—fifty actions a day, every capability unlocked, no card required.
  • Pro—a single operator with higher limits.
  • Mission—a small crew pooling agents, credits, and files around one project.
  • Founder—one person running an entire business on GROX.

Current prices are listed on the GROX pricing page. We do not restate them here, because a number copied into a second place is a number that eventually goes stale in one of them.

Why did IAI Tech build it?

IAI Tech builds infrastructure for the solo founder era. GROX is the platform where that thesis is most literal.

The economics of running a business have changed faster than the tools have. One person can now plausibly do the work of a small team—but only if the tooling stops making them the integration layer between six products. Every hour spent copying context from one AI tool into another is an hour the leverage was supposed to buy back.

An agent operating system is our answer: not another assistant, but the layer the assistants should have been running on.

Frequently asked questions

Does GROX remember previous conversations?

Yes. Memory persists between sessions rather than resetting each time you open a new chat. That is the difference between an assistant you brief every morning and one that already knows the project.

Can GROX use the tools I already have?

Yes—through connectors for email, chat, social, and calendars. Read access and send access are different decisions and should be granted separately. GROX explains that distinction in Can an AI agent actually use my existing tools?

Can GROX write and deploy software?

Yes. GROX Code builds, previews, and deploys real web and mobile applications—not code samples pasted into a chat window, but applications that run.

Do I need a credit card to try it?

No. The free plan is fifty actions a day with every capability unlocked and no card required.

Is GROX one agent or many?

One agent, with many capabilities. That is the point of the operating-system framing: the alternative—many small agents that each forget you—is the problem it was built to replace. The Venture is the exception that proves it: nine agent roles, all reporting to one human operator.
